A video of a bird of prey capturing a large, shark-like fish in its claws has gone viral on social media, evoking multiple references to the science-fiction cult movie phenomenon Sharknado.
The video, which CBS reported was shot by Tennessee native Ashley White last week and shared by Tracking Sharks, shows what appears to be a large hawk-like bird flying over the shore of Myrtle Beach in California with a large fish struggling to get free from its talons.
Anyone know what type of bird this is and is it holding a shark? #myrtlebeach 📽 Kelly Burbage pic.twitter.com/gc59xihiM7

According to a tweet from White, the video was taken from the 17th floor of a building she was staying at. The video was also shared on Facebook.
While the species of bird and fish have yet not been confirmed, Twitter users have been offering guesses and suggestions as to the identity of the two creatures in the video. Some suggested the bird was a Condor and others weighed in with the claim that the fish in question was not a shark.

The video has been viewed on various accounts more than 17 million times. Multiple viewers noted the similarity between the video and "Sharknado," the cult-classic film series about sharks that emerge from the ocean to attack humans on land.
Asylum, the studio behind the science-fiction franchise, retweeted the video and wrote, "How many of you knew a sharknado was coming next?" The Syfy channel also retweeted the video with a similar comment, writing, "We always knew this day would come #Sharknado."
