When it comes to our brains, there's a lot we're yet to learn - for example, exactly what role sleep plays in memory formation, and how to stop the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

But there's plenty that scientists do know, and you might be surprised to find that a lot of it contradicts what you believe to be true about the brain. Like the fact that your intelligence decreases with age, or that classical music makes babies smarter. And we hate to be the ones to tell you this, but you're not actually a creative right-brained thinker who performs better under pressure.

To clear things up, digital company Journl have put together the infographic below that breaks down the top 10 myths about how our brain works (in no particular order).

Read and share with the next person who tells you that we only use 10 percent of our brains. And while we're destroying the things you believe in, you're also using toilet paper incorrectly, washing your hair too much and drinking coffee at the wrong times. You're welcome.
